ORANGE, BLACK and BEIGE COLOR SCHEME for a BABY'S NURSERY
My unique orange and black gender neutral nursery color scheme for baby came to pass since I was sick of looking at one pastel nursery after another that were all just cookie-cutter designs from Babies-R-Us or Target. Not that pastel nurseries are bad; I just wanted something different.

What I came up with was a unique nursery color scheme for baby that includes various shades of orange, brown and beige with black, painted nursery furniture.
I started by painting the nursery wall with two colors of orange paint with the pale shade of orange on the top and the darker color on the bottom with a black line for a faux chair-rail and crown molding.
I used the crib bumper pads, pillows and blankets to add more shades of orange for added interest.
All of the nursery furniture is painted a deep, glossy black, except for the glider which I had covered in a muted orange stripe fabric. This was accented with a side table from Bombay with an orange inlay design on top and a hanging orange organizer that I found online at Ikea.
The decorative accessories that I chose were a vintage orange lamp from a thrift store that I repainted with black trim and orange baskets and flowers. I hand painted my own artwork to be framed for the walls with black frames.
I received a beautiful orange baby quilt as a keepsake that was inspired from the baby shower invitations sent out for my showers. This wonderful shower gift has become the focal point of the room.
The baby quilt when draped on the crib rails pulls all the colors of the room together with its bright and colorful geometric design of multi-colored polka dots. The dots are printed in varying sizes ranging from very small to large.
The baby's room turned out beautifully and I can't wait to spend time in there with our little one!
These bold colors may not be everyone's cup of tea but I hope that they spread the word that decorating the baby nursery, or any room for that matter, in orange and black isn't just for Halloween!
