Best Solid Color Crib Bedding For the Nursery
Solid crib bedding often comes in very handy when decorating the baby’s nursery. Often parents have selected decorative accessories or baby gear with active prints that they love and want to use in the bedroom. There are no rules about where strong pictures or patterns can be used in a room’s design, but there are limitations on how many accents and focal points should be included.
To put it plainly, if you want a large nursery wall mural or bold wallpaper, pick a set of solid crib bedding in a complimentary color. I am often asked for help in designing a nursery where the inspiration piece is wallpaper with a large pattern in bold colors. Chances are that by this time they have made the rounds of all the discount stores and baby malls with no luck in matching their decorative items to one of the many crib sets.
Because these parents chose to use wall or floor covering for inspiration rather than the nursery bedding they may feel like total failures. No matter how hard they have tried, they haven’t been able to pull together all the necessary decorative elements of the baby’s bedroom. By the time they make it to me, they are tired, worn out and feel that only a professional decorator can fix their problems. I’m always glad to share my gallery of pictures and ideas for decorating a baby’s nursery, but this couple may not need a professional decorator. The answer to their problems is easy; solid crib bedding. Most modern nursery bedding sets match popular nursery themes or have wild, funky abstract or geometric patterns rather than solid colors. If you read any of the decorative articles that I have written you will find that I tell parents that the easy way to jump start the decorating process is to pick out the nursery bedding. The reason for this is that it’s so easy to accessorize from the crib OUT than from the walls IN. I love to mix and match bold colors and patterns in nurseries, but sometimes it’s just not feasible. Bringing in loads of activity and accents is not the best way to decorate a small nursery. Even if you are working with a large room, often the best option is solid crib bedding. If you want your inspiration piece to stand out and draw the eye of your visitors, why create diversions that will diminish its importance in the décor? Solid crib bedding doesn’t have to blend into the background. If you pick the right color it will serve to highlight and accentuate your focal points rather than fight with it for dominance. Besides, who says that solid color crib bedding isn’t pretty or exciting? Go wild with those solid colors! Pick a comforter and sheet set that's in a color that's funky, fun and will make your inspiration piece POP!
