Ruby's Grey and Red Nursery

Baby Ruby's Vintage Modern Grey and Red Nursery
Ruby's grey and red nursery color scheme is perfect because of my love vintage decor. I knew that the cool shade of grey and the warmth of the red would work well with a wide variety of the antiques in my current collection as well as the ones that I would add in the future.
Immediate aesthetic results were important but I also didn't want to get stuck with a restricted palette of just a few colors.
Grey is an excellent, neutral background color for a variety of accent colors including the red that I have used for this project.

Red and grey is lovely in combination with many popular baby girl nursery themes
For instance, my mom and I made all of the baby bedding. I just picked out fabrics that I liked and made sure that they all went together. The Apple and Pear print is by Alexander Henry and I found it at JoAnn Fabrics.
I also made the baby mobile using scrap fabric into pinwheels and a craft ring covered in ribbon.
The bright red and white polka dot fitted crib sheet is framed with a bumper made of fabric with a fruit print edged with white eyelet lace. The background of the fabric is baby blue and covered in yellow and lime green apples and pink pears with touches in the same shade of red as the crib sheet.
Ruby's white crib is one of the vintage touches in the room and looks perfect with the red and white ties that attach the bumper to the rails.
FLOOR COVERINGMy mom made a rectangle shaped area rug that we keep on the floor next to the baby's bed. It has all of the colors of the baby bedding as well as a "dotted" pattern of sorts.
NURSERY FURNITURE & STORAGEWe felt that the best color for the furniture for Ruby's grey and red nursery would be a clean white. The armoire, "changing" table and crib are all "vintage" and have been repainted.
If you will notice, the polka dot design from the red portion of the baby bedding is repeated in the colorful storage bins.
LIGHTINGMy dad and husband installed the light fixture which was from Ikea. The crystal beads of the chandelier add some sparkle to the room. The table lamp next to the SUPER comfortable chair is less formal but very colorful and fun!
WINDOW TREATMENTSThe fabric of the window valance is the same bright red color as seen in the baby bedding. The rich red looks amazing next to the gray wall color.
I really liked the sweet touches of vintage including book ends that I found on Etsy and old vintage prints found at a thrift store.
I hope that you have enjoyed your tour of Baby Ruby's nursery and that you weren't disappointed to find that the color scheme of her room was not limited to those colors alone!
