If you were to ask me what comes to mind when I think of French country decor, I would probably say roosters, bunny rabbits and woven baskets. While pottery and fabrics with these motifs are common; finding the perfect bunny or checkered rooster area rug can be tricky. Occasionally you can find pretty rooster rugs with scalloped edges that would fit just as well in the bedroom as a kitchen where it could catch the sun from the window or the reflection of the daisies on the window sill in the brilliant light from shining copper pots. But those momentous occasions when you find the perfect piece that tickles your fancy are far too rare.


Once upon a time I actually had the good fortune to happen upon an area rug with the perfect color scheme for a French Country or shabby chic baby nursery theme. Rooster rugs that also have fluffy, white bunnies on them are few and far between. This elegant bunny and rooster area rug was cheap considering the decorative impact that it was going to have on this decorating project, but I probably would have bought it no matter what the cost!
