I'm excited to be sharing this sneak peek of our red, white and baby blue nursery. Our baby boy's nursery is not completely decorated, but we have made a good start even though plans are to wait until after our baby shower to finalize the decor.
Go Here to See MoreSome of our friends have asked what our nursery theme is but we really aren't decorating the baby's room in a particular theme even though I have nothing against nurseries decorated using animals, sports or cars. Those are all common nursery themes for baby boys but I just didn't want to do that.
I'm kind of pulling some different elements together to make our red, white and baby blue nursery "boy-ish" while keeping it classy. I've used a couple of inspiration pieces to determine the colors for the nursery. The first was of course, the baby bedding set that you see in the pictures.
I found the baby bedding that I wanted and it really pulled the room together. The baby bedding helped me make the decision to paint the nursery walls blue although it took me a while to find a blue paint color that I thought went with the bedding, but I finally found the best one.
After Duane painted most of the walls blue, I had the idea that we could paint one of the walls in red. The color that we chose is a pretty bright red, but I really like the want that it contrasts with the blue! Here are some pictures of the paint.
I chose to buy white nursery furniture, even though most people seem to go with brown for boys. The white crib and dresser just matches my color scheme better. Our red, white and blue nursry has only one window, so although there is plenty of light, I thought white would brighten up the room a bit. The wooden trim is all painted white and of course in the back of my mind there is always the picture of a baby girl's nursery. If I ever have a little girl, I know I'll want her baby furniture to be white.
The plain white knobs that came with the baby dresser looked a little cheap so we replaced them with glass drawer pulls that we bought from Anthropology. The pulls weren't cheap, but I love the custom, slightly antique look that they give the dresser.
Well there you have it; the first pictures of our
red, white and baby blue nursery! At the time the nursery pictures were taken we still have lots of items to add, but I'm excited that we have made such a good start! Please vote for my photos and leave me a comment to let me know what you think of our
baby nursery ideas! And it would be nice if you stopped by our blog, lifeat319.blogspot.com, too!
