We realized that of all the Dr. Seuss nursery themes, that the colorful One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish Nursery was what we wanted for Joshua. While we wanted Dr. Seuss inspired nursery decorations throughout the room I had a few requirements including that the decor had to be:
- Easily removable and made over without having to repaint the nursery walls
- designed using a theme that decorated the baby's room leaving it with a clean, uncluttered atmosphere.

The baby's crib is decorated with a custom made Dr. Seuss theme baby blanket that my mother made.
The wall to the right of Joshua's crib features a wall shelf that we refinished. We replaced the existing pegs on the shelf with primary colored stars and then decorated it with cute Dr Seuss figurines.
To the side is a One Fish Two Fish Nursery Mural that is made of removable vinyl wall decals that I painted and cut out and our baby boy's name spelled out in wooden letters that I painted red and white "Cat in the Hat" style. The wall art was part of a craft trade that I framed with wobbly frames that I made myself out of mat board.
The puppy dog laundry hamper in the corner completes the area and works nicely with the baby's Cat in the Hat height chart and One Fish, Two Fish wall clock and the diaper hanger.
The baby's dresser is a reclaimed piece that was painted in a hideous dark brown so I repainted it to fit the room better. I used paint colors that are seen in many of the illustrations in Dr. Seuss books.
We outfitted the nursery glider with some comfortable new cushions and placed some stuffed Seuss toys and stuffed animals nearby for the baby to play with.
The nursery wall that is on the left is decorated with a classroom banner and Seuss alphabet cut outs.

Rather than using curtains, I decorated the window using a bright red valance that reminded me of a circus tent. I bought the lime green, blue and red plastic balloons at a craft store and arranged them so that they look as if they are supporting the window valance.
I filled the half circle arch above the window with some left over bright yellow mat board that I painted with the blue whale from "If I Ran the Circus". The window decorating technique that I used is one of my favorite parts of Joshua's Dr Seuss baby room.
ROOM DECORATIONS
The arrangement on top of the On top of the baby's dresser consists of a Horton Hears a Who nightlight, a Cat in the Hat themed picture frame, a One Fish Two Fish themed piggy banks, a Lorax made of felt with its own accompanying Truffula Tree and Onceler knitting a Thneed (that was created for me as part of a craft trade) and an embroidered Horton Hears a Who picture (also created as part of a craft trade).
