Baby Girl's Modern Green and Brown Nursery w Custom Wall Graphics, Collectible Lanterns and Books for the Future
We had more than one piece that inspired our modern green and brown nursery ideas. The green and brown color combination is a favorite of ours and one that we featured at our wedding so we thought it would be a nice touch for the nursery as well.
Also, while we wanted to convey our love of the ocean to our daughter, we're not big fans of the more traditionally used blue themed underwater scenes that you see in so many nurseries - hence we used a more playful green and soft white color palette.
My wife and I are both avid scuba divers and appreciate modern design so we wanted to create a room for our daughter "Ren Isla" that reflected this.
We were aiming for whimsy, but a style that we hope our daughter will grow to love as she gets older as it's also a bit unique.
As for the books displayed on the shelves in our baby girl's modern
modern brown and green nursery design, they are largely books on the subject of art and architecture that I've collected over the years. Hopefully, my daughter will appreciate these topics as she gets older.
The paper lanterns decorating the top of the bookcase are a colorful retro complement to our modern green and brown nursery decorations. They are Noguci lights that my wife brought back from Japan (which you can also buy in the US) years ago. The lights are all hooked up together with a dimmer so that they can be lit up simultaneously to give our daughter something visually stimulating to look at as she lies in her crib.
Since the pictures of Ren's nursery were taken we've added a few things like an Eames table next to the nursery glider and a Flensted mobile over her crib. It's not featured in the nursery pictures but there is a vintage Eames Rocker in the room that we has been in the family for years that we thought would be a nice addition.
Nursery Decorating Project Details:Paint Color: "The Beanstalk" (from the David Bromstad Kids Color's Edition) and "Brushed Cotton" by Mythic Paint.
Dresser and Crib: "Luxo" by Bloom, purchased from Giggle.
Nursery Glider: "Ludo" by Monte, purchased from Giggle.
Hanging Ceiling Light: Goccia di Luce Pendant
Nursery Rug: Playmat by Skip Hop.
Rocker: An Eames Rocker that we have had in the family for years.
Wall Graphics: The modern wall mural was custom made for us by Blik (www.whatisblik.com). My friends own the company and worked with me to create these one of a kind wall graphics for the nursery. They make a wide variety of graphics, many of which are specifically geared towards kids' rooms. These graphics are probably our favorite thing in the nursery in addition to the art piece we had commissioned.
Art Canvas: The canvas is titled
"A Truce Between Kings" and is original, commissioned artwork created by an artist named Jacub Gagon from Toronto (www.jacubgagnon.com). We had seen Jacub's work at a local gallery in LA and thought it would translate well into a nursery. We got in touch with Jacub to create the piece for us - it's a play on a meeting between 2 kings - a lion fish and a "king fisher" bird (inside the dive helmet). The piece is personalized on the back "To our beautiful daughter in celebration of your birth. Love Mama and Papa".
If you need anything else, or would like a few additional pictures with some more of the "touches" we've added, let me know.
From the webmaster: John, your baby girl's modern nursery is an inspiration not only because it is a delightful example of how contemporary nursery design can be personalized and warm but I believe that my visitors will appreciate and admire how you and your wife worked as a team to develop
baby nursery ideas based on sentiment, that were representative of your unique personalities and with an eye to your daughter's future.
