Isobel's Modern Vintage Nursery

Modern Vintage Baby Girl Kitten Sage Green and White Nursery Room Theme Pictures Sage Blue Green White
Our baby girl's modern vintage nursery theme is an eclectic blend of things handed down from relatives, found at thrift stores and in a few cases, purchased new. We focused more on buying things we liked rather than sticking to any one theme, but the overwhelming amount of vintage items leans the style of decor in that direction.
We spent a lot of time on the nursery but fortunately not a lot of money. Although we could have purchased a cute crib secondhand, we splurged and purchased ours new. I love its clean modern lines. All the other furniture in the room is second hand, making the room a contrast of old and new.
We mixed and matched many decorative elements in our baby girl's modern vintage nursery design. The three mod cats on the wall above the changing table were purchased at an antique store but the metallic gold name banner and colorful paper butterfly mobile were purchased new.
I based most of my
baby nursery decorating ideas on the colors and style of secondhand books and a large, vintage egg-shaped terrarium, which sits on a shelf alongside brand new toys. I used brand new record album frames to hold
vintage albums to add inexpensive art. Everywhere you look in the room, you’ll see the old next to the new.
We mixed things up a lot with color, too. We wanted a very colorful nursery but we wanted it to be soothing and harmonious as well. It’s easy to fill a room with pink items but to use a contrasting mix of colors such as the ones that we used in Isobel's
modern vintage nursery design is more challenging but it is also more interesting.
We painted the walls a green-blue when we
moved in and decided to keep them when we set up our
baby girl nursery. We added healthy doses of pink, green, yellow, and orange to prevent one color from being too dominant.
Another design element of the modern vintage nursery layout is the quite unintentional addition of our three cats. One is always asleep somewhere in the room, and I have even walked in to find all of them sleeping in there at once. A comfy nursery for mom and baby generally translates into a sweet spot for a cat nap. They have taken full advantage of the mountains of blankets, the
mint green changing pad, and the large, sunlit window.
Now that our nursery is finally finished I couldn’t be
happier with it. We were fortunate that we were able to
find so many great items secondhand, and that we had so
many pieces handed down from relatives. The crib was
midrange in price but we are very happy with both its
modern looks and its good quality. Isobel’s room is
easily my favorite room in the house and I think our cats agree.

I love the fact that you didn't run to the latest mall baby shop and buy what is trendy and mass produced. The thrift store finds are fantastic and all the details are so lovely.
The color choice on the walls are really stunning. Isobel is lucky to have such a beautiful room.
