French Traditional Nursery
by Postcards and Coasters
Baby Charlotte Claire's French Theme Nursery was inspired by memories of the Loire Valley in France
Our baby girl's, French traditional nursery design was inspired by photos taken in the Loire Valley during a visit to France and much of the décor we made much of the décor that you see in the pictures ourselves.
We also did the painting ourselves.
The Loire Valley of France is so picturesque that the atmosphere of the area immediately came to mind when we started to decorate the baby's room.

After studying pictures of interior design common to the area, I had a basic idea of what I wanted for the nursery but it wasn't until I found the fabric that I knew exactly what the nursery's color scheme would be, pink, green and cream.
Using the fabric as inspiration, I started to order decorations that were suitable in color and that would complement the antique baby dresser and mirror that were mine as a child such as the
wooden letters for the nursery wall that I painted using gold craft paint.
I love that we have both homemade and sentimental pieces in the room but one of my favorite items is the Corsican
metal baby crib.
We jumped in and painted and decorated, full of enthusiasm and anticipation while waiting to adopt little Miss Charlotte.
Speaking of painting; my husband and I completed all of the painting and sewing projects ourselves. As excited as we were, painting the stripes and ceiling design was a huge job. I couldn't help but wonder how Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel whether his neck hurt as much as mine did from looking up for so many hours?
Throughout the process, we hoped that Charlotte's birth mother wouldn't change her mind and decide to keep her. Waiting to adopt is both a happy and stressful time but we got lucky! All went well and we got our princess! And she got parents who love her so much and a beautiful French Traditional Nursery that they decorated for her themselves.
