Baby's First Crazy Hectic Christmas
by JB
A new mother and baby in a vintage scene with a quote.
What do you imagine that your first Christmas with a new baby will be like? As for myself, I remember that I couldn't wait to book an appointment for the baby's first Christmas portrait and had ideas for cute photo props dancing in my head. There were also dreams of peaceful moments in scenes lit only by the twinkling lights of the tree spent gazing into the sleeping face of my precious child.
And then no quicker than you could say
HO, HO, HO the rounds from house to house with a newborn and enough gear to set up a portable nursery in tow began. Things began to get really crazy and hectic and baby got fussy after being passed from one pair of loving arms to the next.
After (finally) arriving home late Christmas Eve, a glass of eggnog and some peace and quiet would have been so nice only the little one had gotten a second wind and had no intention of falling asleep.
Talk about tired..
But when we hung
baby's first Christmas stocking over the fireplace and her
personalized ornament on the tree we were filled with such love and felt truly blessed. While there were times of total insanity; there were so many moments of pure magic.
Do I have any sage advice on how to manage a stress-free holiday with a newborn? I can only say that if I had the chance to do all over again I would have relaxed more, worried less about the details and taken hundreds and hundreds of photos because fussy or not, baby's first Christmas has been the most memorable of all.
