I watch my 13 month old grandson 2-3 days a week - he started walking at 10 months and is now quite fast on his little feet. Now that the weather is good he loves to be outside and running is his favorite thing to do. I want to be able to take him to the local petting zoo and nearby parks but was worried about constantly chasing him which is a game to him. He is too little to understand commands to hold my hand and "stop", "come to Nana" etc. I will be ordering one of the cute harnesses with the stuffed dog and a plain one for use at the lake or beach. My first responsibility is to keep him safe while in my care and that is what I will do until he is old enough to understand more words etc. His older brother was not as active and easier to manage so this is a decision parents/caregivers have to make based on the individual child.

Thanks so much for helping me to make up my mind about getting safety harnesses for my kids to help keep up with them during the holidays.

I too have seen so many panicked parents. Why should we care what people thing as long as we know we are trying to do the best for our children's safety?
