Free Baby Blanket Pattern to Knit for Beginners
Number Two
This easy baby blanket pattern knits up FAST with chunky yarn. I encourage our visitors to try this knitting pattern with a bulky cotton or cashmere yarn, as chunky as you can find, for added body and less time spent on the project.
Wool is lovely but a blanket made from wool yarn might be too scratchy for a newborn's delicate skin.
Crafters that make their own Christmas presents or gifts for a baby shower know that it is never advisable to wait until cold weather to start looking for patterns or yarn. The best time to start knitting baby gifts for Christmas is in early spring.
Actually, you should start knitting right after the Christmas holidays so that you will have time to have your stash of gifts ready for showers as well as plenty for the holidays!

Embroider the baby's date of birth with a contrasting yarn, or have the blanket monogrammed with baby's initials to personalize your free baby knitting pattern.
Instructions
Material:
500gms of a thick bulky cotton or wool yarn to suit gauge. I would love to try knitting this
personalized blanket in washable cashmere baby yarn. A hand knit cashmere crib blanket would not be as easy care or
as quick to knit, but no other yarn is so soft! They say that is a washable cashmere yarn but I've yet to try it. I'll have to make a note to shop the end of season sales, discount or
wholesale outlets for the best prices on cashmere yarn.
6.5mm needles
Gauge:
18 stitches to 10cm over pattern stitch
Size:
