The Original Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier
Well before baby's arrival, I had my Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier in black gingham picked out, purchased and ready to go! I was well aware of the love-fest between every new mom I knew and their Baby Bjorn products. Baby wearing was in my future after seeking the advice of everyone that I knew who was a fan of attachment parenting.
I was not willing to turn my back on fashion trends just because baby would be on board plus there was the fear that I'd have a few extra pounds hitching a ride! To camouflage the extra baggage lots of black outfits would be necessary, so I bought a black gingham baby carrier that I felt would look stunning with my post pregnancy wardrobe.
In the beginning I felt more comfortable carrying the baby in my New Native baby sling, somehow slings felt more natural to me in the first month or two. I switched to the Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier in the third month after baby got a little bigger.

The Baby Bjorn is a popular front carrier that carries baby close to your body and offers good back support. Our first outings were on my power walks to shed the post pregnancy baby weight that I mentioned earlier. It was easy to assemble, put on and to get the infant installed comfortably inside the carrier. By this time I was pretty comfortable with baby wearing so I didn't have a steep learning curve with the Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier. The adjustments are all made within easy reach which can't be said about all carriers. After a while I was confident that baby was completely safe riding hands free which enabled me to exercise my arms by pumping them during the walk.
Plus, I felt very fashionable and chic with my Baby Bjorn black gingham carrier and my Baby Bjorn product in sophisticated city black! Only a new mom can understand how much this means when dealing with unexpected figural changes after childbirth. That's another thing I like about Baby Bjorn products; the sleek styling! Even their potty seats are streamlined and modern looking.
Reviews are supposed to have PROS and CONS and I've covered many of the advantages of my Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier. There are a few disadvantages and I'll list them now.
While I've stated my reasons for loving my Baby Bjorn black gingham carrier, even vanity won't move you to use a black carrier in the hot summer temperatures. A black Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier is not a great idea as it seems to draw and hold the heat. Baby Bjorn products come in a wide variety of colors and you will want to purchase a carrier in a lighter shade for warmer weather. Sadly, I found that my beloved Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier kept baby (and mommy) much warmer than I wanted in ANY color! I found that my cotton Mei Tai Asian baby carrier was much cooler although it was not as nicely adjustable is the Baby Bjorn product.
Another drawback to the Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier would be the price. If you get a new carrier the best price I found online with free shipping was close to $80. That's pretty expensive for somebody like me that apparently needs a huge stash of carriers. I found my Baby Bjorn black gingham carrier used at a cheaper price, but even used Baby Bjorn products are not free. They are just that popular that they have a high resale value. I have not found any drawbacks with the lightly used item so I'm happy that I found it cheap.
All in all, I was very pleased with this easy to use carrier. Babies can travel in it until they weigh 20 pounds. By that time you will be all to willing to put them in a stroller or to let their daddy carry them in a backpack baby carrier.
