Baby Girl's Underwater Nursery
At first, no one could believe that we chose to paint our baby girl's nursery blue! But Alayna's underwater nursery theme turned out to be so cute that everyone had to take back any negative comments!

We wanted a unique baby nursery for our baby girl and since we live less than 30 minutes from South Padre Island and love the ocean views. With that in mind we searched online for nursery decorating ideas that we liked and nothing appealed to us more than tropical fish surrounded by underwater scenery.
After we made our decision we then hired Holt's Signworks to create custom vinyl wall decals that can easily be taken on and off the walls without causing damage to the paint. To make the underwater nursery theme more feminine, the sea creatures all have long, pretty eyelashes to make it more "girlie".
After we chose the paint color and had the mural in place we added a pink area rug, a pink and green striped crib quilt and other pink accents around the room that really added to the nursery's decor.
We are so happy with how the baby's room turned out and that our daughter has the extremely unique nursery that we dreamed of!
From the webmaster:
Jessica, your idea to give the tropical fish eyelashes was pure genius! That simple touch transformed what otherwise would have been a very attractive but gender neutral underwater nursery into a very unique "girly girl" themed room. As for the blue paint color in a baby girl's nursery...well, I don't think any other color would have worked nearly as well! Thanks so much for sharing your creative baby nursery decorating ideas with us and for entering the baby nursery pictures contest!
