New Wall Painting Techniques - Modern Pink and Lime Green Custom Baby Girl Nursery Design
The painted design for our baby girl's colorful mod nursery came about because I wanted to do something unique and bold rather than going with your typical wall decor. The pink and green wall painting technique that I used required several different shades of pink and green paint to create contrast and to match the crib bedding.

I had my heart set on doing
wall painting techniques consisting of painted squares. Michelle Mayden, who specialized in custom nursery designs, painted the squares on one and a half of the walls. She also painted random squares throughout my
baby girl's nursery to tie the squares together.
The pink and green baby bedding set is from Polka Tot Designs. They made the crib bumper, the changing pad and toy bag. I ordered extra fabric and had a family friend to sew a custom made baby pillow, blanket, curtains, mobile, and bed skirt.
I bought the mobile from Babies R Us and personalized it by changing the ribbon on the teddy bears, the material on the top, put a sticker of the monogram in the center, and made circles on the strings to match the
nursery bedding set.
I bought a self-adhesive lamp shade from the Hobby Lobby and used some of the extra material to cover it so it would match the bedding. I used the shade on an chrome art deco style table lamp.
I bought three picture frames from Michael's for $1 ea. and painted them (with the left over paint from the wall) using the same patterns that were on the bedding fabric.
We found furniture that was perfect for the
colorful mod nursery at Lewis of London. The contemporary baby furniture is Morigeau and the nursery rocker is a Best Chair. (A new style that just came out in fall of 2007. I looked ALL over for a more modern chair/ottoman set and found this at the last minute Very comfy!)
The rugs are from Flor! The Wall letters on round shaped backgrounds are from Pottery Barn Kids.
The monogram was designed to match the bedding through a website called Ideas and Wedding Details. I sent them a picture of my bedding and they gave me four choices of monograms. They sent the final one to me in .JPG form.I have been able to use it for everything from my baby shower invitations, thank you cards, envelope stickers, embroidery motifs, etc.
